Mignon Faget is a New Orleans native who used the city around her as inspiration for collections of ready-to-wear jewelry. As a young child, Mignon had a deep interest in fashion and began to make suggestions to her mother of dresses she wanted. Together, they developed new dress patterns and designs. With continued encouragement from her mother, Mignon designed clothing through high school and college and even designed the dress her entire class of the Academy of Sacred Heart wore to graduation. Mignon Faget was born in the late 1940s to early 1950s. Faget is a fifth generation from Louisiana. Her father's side of the family came from the French in Saint-Domingue (Haiti). Her mother's side of the family emigrated directly from France and first lived in St. Martinville. Mignon Faget married her husband and together they have three children. They are Painter Jacqueline Humphries, John Humphries, and William Humphries. Her son John is now one of the lead designers at the Mignon Faget stores. Mignon Faget currently resides in her childhood home in Bayou St. John.
